I use Photoshop Elements 5, it’s plenty enough for editing and colouring sketches… For pencils, I start by making the scan slightly dark and in Photoshop, I keep tweaking brightness, contrast and (especially) levels until it looks balanced. I have no real magic spells. <:-D I guess I also press the pencil pretty hard to start with so there’s not much contrast to add. (Not much of proper advice but there’s tons of ways to do it!)
